13:52:48 Karen Dennis -> Hi Pam!
13:54:00 matt montagne -> hey y'all
13:54:07 JL -> Howdy
13:56:57 shoemap -> -Webhead Room: Karen, jump over to the WA room , you're in the webhead room
13:57:43 shoemap -> Hi all, we're almost ready to get started. Jeff needs a reboot.
13:58:32 shoemap -> We're in Sandbox A, everyone.
14:00:06 Sarah S -> Do you want us in the Webcast room or the webhead room
14:00:10 derrallg -> -Webhead Room: Double click on the webcast academy name to go to that room Karen
14:00:18 shoemap -> Webcast Academy
14:00:38 derrallg -> hello
14:02:36 matt montagne -> I can hear fine
14:02:40 Sarah S -> Sounds great
14:02:44 matt montagne -> I'm assuming we're not using ustream
14:02:45 JS -> Stream sounds great
14:02:49 Karen Dennis -> hearing fine!
14:03:05 derrallg -> I think Jeff will get it going when he comes back
14:03:28 matt montagne -> ahh...thanks Derral
14:03:54 JS -> probably not yahoo live
14:04:02 JS -> it was kind of a disaster last week
14:04:53 matt montagne -> I can't paste in URLs to chat room
14:04:57 matt montagne -> any tips?
14:05:03 derrallg -> great
14:05:22 derrallg -> no i open a different window in firefox and drag it in
14:05:28 matt montagne -> yayyy Detroit, MI
14:05:57 matt montagne -> http://drapestakes.blogspot.com/2008/02/ustream-just-another-thing-to-wo...
14:06:16 matt montagne -> that is a link to a blog post Darren Draper wrote about his administrators thoughts on ustream...
14:07:57 shoemap -> Thanks for the link, Matt.
14:08:34 shoemap -> I thought it was great how he handled the question from the administrator
14:08:53 matt montagne -> I agree, Pam
14:09:05 matt montagne -> I'm a little concerned by our fears of taking risks
14:09:13 matt montagne -> we've become SO risk aversive...I don't get it
14:09:29 matt montagne -> is aversive a word? I meant averse
14:09:35 shoemap -> Fear
14:09:53 shoemap -> of change, and lawsuits
14:10:10 matt montagne -> yeah, we're still dealing w/fall out of "To Catch a Predator..."
14:11:34 JS -> lawsuits. They get really nervous about immediate, live broadcasting. They have to let go, and accept the possibility that anything can happen. It's a pretty scary proposition.
14:11:38 derrallg -> I don't think that will go away
14:12:52 matt montagne -> @JS...I know...but why don't they get concerned by photos and first/last name in local papers?
14:13:43 JS -> Because they have more control about what goes out.
14:13:55 matt montagne -> heard Microsoft was going to buy Ustream...
14:14:10 JS -> Think live TV without the 7 second delay. It creates tons of liability because of what the kids could do.
14:14:25 JL -> http://www.webcastacademy.net/webcams
14:16:20 kolmstead -> I think the keyword with the papers is local!!
14:17:04 JS -> right, jl
14:17:07 JS -> What does it add?
14:17:23 matt montagne -> what about local predators?? They're going to use the local paper, not ustream
14:17:54 kolmstead -> Local predators, at least ones who have been caught once, are registered and you know who they are.
14:18:24 JS -> No. I just meant that you should answer that question when making the choice of whether or not to do video.
14:21:23 matt montagne -> Earth Day 2008 Webcastathon info: http://enviroscims.wikispaces.com/Earth+Day Consider participating in the fun!!
14:21:36 derrallg -> hows that going Matt?
14:21:44 JoseRodriguez -> OK I'm in. I had trouble with Chat. It worked after rebooting.
14:21:48 derrallg -> yeah
14:21:49 JoseRodriguez -> firefox
14:22:15 JoseRodriguez -> Go Lorna
14:22:31 matt montagne -> @derralg-some very good loose connections...but right now they're loose...working on firming them up
14:23:43 matt montagne -> sure...happy to talk about that
14:23:47 matt montagne -> he he he
14:23:58 JoseRodriguez -> I know Matt had idea on Earth Day Webcastathon
14:24:45 JoseRodriguez -> Do you have the link?
14:24:47 JS -> Getting occasional audio drops on ustream. Just me?
14:24:55 JoseRodriguez -> me too
14:25:00 Karen Dennis -> No, I am too
14:25:15 Karen Dennis -> seems to be happening more frequently
14:25:24 JoseRodriguez -> but still able to follow conversation until now
14:25:43 Karen Dennis -> yes, it is dropping for longer periods of time
14:25:44 JL -> turning video - wonder if that will help audio
14:25:52 JL -> turning video off
14:26:14 JoseRodriguez -> Symignton?
14:26:35 JS -> better so far, Jeff.
14:26:42 JoseRodriguez -> Audio coming in loud and clear
14:27:25 JoseRodriguez -> When is Earth Day, in April?
14:27:51 matt montagne -> that is a great idea
14:28:19 JL -> Tuesday April 22
14:28:32 JoseRodriguez -> I noticed Drupal at ETT enables voice comments
14:28:34 Sarah S -> I might be able to do something with kids if it could be pre-recorded.
14:28:37 derrallg -> during our testing week
14:29:12 Sarah S -> That way it could run anytime - even those inconvenient slots
14:29:24 JoseRodriguez -> When night falls is probably a good working model
14:29:45 JoseRodriguez -> Asking for moderators for selected hours
14:31:11 JoseRodriguez -> Or even simulcast from Skype conferences
14:31:34 JoseRodriguez -> when you are a guest
14:31:49 JoseRodriguez -> not necessarily involved in conversation
14:32:10 JoseRodriguez -> Go John
14:32:15 JS -> :-)
14:32:24 JS -> Actually, I'm going through links at the moment.
14:32:38 JS -> That's okay -- I'll figure it out
14:32:42 kolmstead -> @Matt - I am in MN right now, but when I get back we can discuss my roll. I can probably moderate for an hour or so, but I need to practice between now and then.
14:32:55 JoseRodriguez -> limited bandwidth, my neighbor is on vacaction :-)
14:33:58 matt montagne -> @kolmstead...that would be excellent! Drop your contact information on the Earth Day 2008 Webcast Planning page: http://enviroscims.wikispaces.com/Earth+Day
14:34:04 JoseRodriguez -> old tale of hijacking free-wifi
14:34:45 JoseRodriguez -> Being able to webcast and have an audience available
14:35:48 JoseRodriguez -> Use Skype chat and Webcast Academy Site to practice streaming
14:36:16 Karen Dennis -> Julie Schumacher did that I think!
14:36:30 JoseRodriguez -> Educational BloodBath was pretty cool also
14:36:41 Karen Dennis -> Julie is the one that hooked me up with the Academy!
14:37:44 JoseRodriguez -> @matt check out what youthvoices are doing already Lee Baber and folks
14:37:51 JoseRodriguez -> Spacecasts
14:39:13 JoseRodriguez -> Beatles? How old are you Darrel?
14:39:18 derrallg -> 46
14:39:21 JS -> many radio stations aren't live either. :-)
14:39:39 derrallg -> yes my parents couldn't believe I was a Beatle fanatic
14:39:55 JoseRodriguez -> walled garden idea is probably they way to start
14:40:00 JS -> All of the beatles songs? That would be a pretty long show.
14:40:14 JoseRodriguez -> He listend to Beatles live
14:40:27 JoseRodriguez -> as a baby
14:40:52 JS -> Yep. Famous Ohioan :-)
14:41:02 Karen Dennis -> what about the disco era!
14:41:07 Karen Dennis -> disco rocks!
14:41:08 JS -> I was a huge beatles fan in HS, too, and that was a lot later.
14:41:18 JS -> Or, at least, a *little* later.
14:41:37 matt montagne -> dead milkmen
14:41:42 JoseRodriguez -> six pistols?
14:41:59 JoseRodriguez -> cool
14:42:15 Sarah S -> WOW! Very cool Derrall
14:43:02 JoseRodriguez -> Derrall with hair
14:43:31 derrallg -> oh boy, how did that happen
14:43:48 Karen Dennis -> So we are to just go ahead and and complete our interncasts, post our portfolio, then request the gradcast?
14:43:52 JoseRodriguez -> I know lee had problems getting into chat
14:44:03 JoseRodriguez -> I saw her on chat2 for a min
14:44:13 shoemap -> @Karen, that is correct.
14:44:23 Karen Dennis -> Wonderful, thanks!
14:45:39 Karen Dennis -> yes!
14:45:41 JoseRodriguez -> audio is good
14:45:46 JS -> yep
14:45:58 JS -> Jeff, you've already used all your bandwidth for the day
14:46:11 JS -> not afraid to fail.
14:46:18 JoseRodriguez -> Jeff wants to break it again
14:46:19 JS -> Not broken? Let me try harder
14:46:41 matt montagne -> I was just looking back thru chat...yes, Doug Symington from Vancouver Island has verbally committed to Earth Day 2008 Webcast
14:46:57 matt montagne -> I'm not so sure how accurate those are Jeff
14:47:15 matt montagne -> but who knows
14:47:36 JoseRodriguez -> @matt you can also advertise and put EarthDay on Worldbridges calendar. We have used in previouse webcastathons.

14:48:20 JoseRodriguez -> Jeff can create a node on worldbriges site @matt
14:48:22 JS -> http://www.chatzy.com/ cool, but not embedable
14:48:36 JS -> And need ing to log in, but not needing an account. That can be confusing to people.
14:48:55 matt montagne -> OK, Jeff...thanx...I'll get it on webcast academy calendar
