Audacity problems on the Mac

I just downloaded Audacity for the Mac. I've used it a couple times on a PC. When I lauch it for the first time, it says "Audacity First Run," and asks me to choose a language (with English being the only option). When I click OK, it just hangs, spinning the beachball and never fully launches.

I thought this might have something to do with my account settings, because I don't usually run as full admin. So I logged into the full admin account and launched Audacity and it eventually came up. So what's going on here? Is this normal? Do I have to have full permissions to use Audacity, or is it something else.

I've wondered about that and thought it might be a important nugget of information to add when discussing Webcast Academy proficiency, i.e., number of listeners reached.

Brad Hicks hosted Webcast Academy #4b for Macintosh users. cheryloakes and I joined Brad in the conversation. I had my first full succcess, hijacking the Skype call in Nicecast and taking over the stream. Also successfully recorded the Skype call using the ecamm Call Recorder. Thanks for all the help Brad.

Streaming on the Mac

Curious if anyone has had experience with streaming solutions for the Macintosh. We discussed this a little bit during last night's webcast workshop (#3b). In particular, I found this:
Welcome to Darwin Streaming Server, the open source version of Apple's QuickTime Streaming Server technology that allows you to send streaming media to clients across the Internet using the industry standard RTP and RTSP protocols.
http://developer.apple.com/opensource/server/streaming/index.html Seems to also play nice with Windows and Linux, according to the description.

JasonR's first success

Yeah! Finally had my first success with Nicecast tonight. I was able to cast into Sandbox B. Seems so easy in hindsight. Cormier promises it gets easier. I believe him. :)

Questions about Podcast for Teachers and Nicecast for Interns

Couple of things.

Caught the Podcast411 interview with Dr. Kathy King. Has she ever been a guest at EdTechTalk? She mentioned the Podcast for Teachers and iLearnRadio.org. Anyone had experience with these podcasts? I'll have to check them out.

Also, I wanted to try to record a screencast of the new Skype Conference Recorder for Mac from Ecamm. Tried last week with Cheryl, but had a couple snafus. Anyone up for a brief Skypecast, let me know.
