My progress (or lack thereof) to date
I cannot attend a meeting on Thursday (nor on Sunday) as I am in Germany for a long working weekend. Webcasting has not crept to the top of my agenda yet, but rest assured that it will very soon (have been preparing for the German trip). I am not sure that my set-up at home (from where I am most likely to webcast) is fast enough for webcasting. I have measured about 490 kbps in download and 112.5 kbps in upload. That is potentially a problem. I am going to try using two machines in future to distribute the processing load. Perhaps Skypecast, VAC and audacity on one machine and Shoutcast on another. I do intend to master the VAC issue but in the meantime, I think I may have a pragmatic solution. I have Pamela which is a recording program for Skype and I have recently upgraded to the Pamela 3.0 which I think could take care of the recording without Audacity and without VAC. (I paid for the Professional version which is about $20). Pamela is what I use to record Skype calls for my podcast. The main downside of Pamela is that you cannot see the recording levels during the call/webcast. Therefore I would like to test Skypecasting using Pamela as the recording medium. I also need to practise Skypecasting anyway as a host.
