Message to Euro Team from Jeff (forwarded by Dennis)

Dear Jeff and Euro Team,

I have a Power Gramo recording of at least part of the meeting. I will post it as an historical document - documentation of a Skype echo problem!

Hello Euro Team ,

Delighted to hear that you had good meeting Thursday. Hope someone got a decent recording that can be posted.
Just wanted to mention
A) 1900kb down, 450kb up should be adequate for hosting a skype conf and streaming. It's comparable to what I get. CPU usage might be another issue.
B) Had an interesting discussion about the use of the Webcast Academy Moodle and other site management issues that may be of interest

C) Whenever you decide on a date/time for the next EuroMeeting, please do post it on the event calendar (Create Content/event) with a link to the global time. That way, interns who haven't been keeping up with posts will be able to see at a glance when it's happening.

Happy Weekend to all,
Jeff

Thanks for joining the MiniEuro Meeting last night – we were missing Andrew and Bengt – and Jeff

We discovered a lot of echo problems during the SKYPE conference? – Perhaps my laptop /or my home-connection (1900 kb down- 450 kb up on Wireless System) is not strong enough to host a meeting – record this – and stream at the same time.
We have to look into this problem a little further, I believe

My recordings were not in a technical state to publish – what about yours?

Do any of you have suggestions for the program on Sunday at 18.00 CET – I need input to this -today Friday – before 14.00 CET

I asked if I could take an interview with you via SKYPE one happy day – just for fun!

Please tell me when this best for you in time (best my time between 8 an15 CET – and please choose 3 pieces of your preferred music! – OK?

Looking forward to be join by all next Thursday at 20.00 CET (Central European Time) = 19.00 GMT

Perhaps we should agree who is who is talking – who is recording – who is streaming – and who is loocking after the Worldbridges chatroom?

Have a good weekend … with or without your beloved SKYPELADY J

Regards Niels

Still confused where to post.

Present were Niels, who called the meeting, Sus and Anne from Denmark and me from Germany. Niels managed to stream our proceedings on sandpits A and B, plus record on Audacity. I started recording on Audacity, but had to switch off because it was interferring with other people's connection. I also recorded on Gramo - but there is nothing worth uploading anywhere.

1. Started off as a Skypecast. Niels had trouble with other people trying to get in.

2. Switched to an ordinary Skype conference.

3. Sus had difficulties getting in.

4. Anne, on an old microphone, was loud and clear the whole evening.

5. Most of the evening we fought echo problems, and Sus fell out a couple of times.

Nonetheless, in my view, the meeting was worthwhile:

1. Talking to each other informally about how far we had got in our attempts to stream.

2. Sus and Dennis noted that although they have subscribed to various forums at the Academy, very little gets through in the form of email notification.

3. Niels drew our attention ot his posting about an alternative to Audacity. A trial version can be downloaded.(See his Academy blog posting).

4. Niels informed us that you must post to the Academy in a blog for it to appear in the listings. (I take this to mean that comments to original postings are not notified).

5. Mention was made of the Academy Moodle. Not everyone was aware that there was one. It seems activity on it has been low so far.

Niels suggested that I should try streaming on my laptop i.e. another computer. Before I do this, though, I plan to reinstall all relevant programs and have another go. I also want to ensure that my security system is not blocking anything.

We meet again next Thursday. Details will be posted later, probably by Niels.

Dennis
