Caputing video from Second Life and other virtual environments
A question from Dennis Newsom:
I'm trying to make a few short videos of visits to various parts of Second Life. Up til last week, my Camtasia was working well. Now when I start to record, I get a black, blank screen. Is there a setting I'm missing or is there another program that will do the same thing?

I meant CAPTURING of course, not computing or whatever.

SL capture challenges
I usually use Fraps for capturing video from SL - find it much lighter on the system than Camtasia. Will then import video into Camtasia for editing.
Camtasia - haardware acceltartion setting and 3 secs of Fraps
Jeff,
Followed the recommendation in:
http://groups.google.com/group/sketchupissues/msg/2b20dc29136fb31d...%C2...
This was right click desktop >settings>advanced>troubleshooting>hardware acceleration > none
Result? A message from SL saying my video card was not modern enough i.e. SL and Caamtasia have incompatible needs for this setting.
Tried Fraps. After a bit of fiddling worked, but only for 3 seconds. Checking through Google for discussions, I find this is normal - the demo is for 3 seconds only. The search continues, and so does the attempt to make short videos of SL.

Videos of Second Life
Jeff,
Thanks for bringing my query in from the cold somewhere on Skype and than ks for telling me about Fraps..
I've installed Fraps, but cannot get it to work. A Google search tells me that this is a common problem, though.
I'll keep this spot informed if I'm successful.
