13:14:49 Dennis-Phoenix -> Great goal, José and Jeff: putting together a lot of things and integrating them into a network.
13:15:21 susanvg -> It should always be about the content
13:15:44 Dennis-Phoenix -> I agree, Susan--content and community building.
13:16:09 Dennis-Phoenix -> Pam Shoemaker is calling.
13:16:16 Dennis-Phoenix -> Hi, Diane!

13:17:36 Dennis-Phoenix -> Oy, Diane!
13:17:46 Dennis-Phoenix -> But the important thing is that you got here, no?
13:18:01 Pam Shoemaker -> Congrats, Lisa. I wanted to stay for it, but couldn't... I wanted learn what a gradcast was!
13:18:06 readerdiane -> Can someone invite me to the Skype chat since I have left that. Yeah-stubborness.
13:18:13 Dennis-Phoenix -> Hey, my hero Pam!
13:18:21 Pam Shoemaker -> Hi Dennis!
13:18:32 Dennis-Phoenix -> How's by you, Pam?

13:19:09 JasonR -> Greetings
13:19:14 JoseR -> Hi Diane How is it going?
13:19:16 Dennis-Phoenix -> :D
13:19:45 JoseR -> Diane, are you ready for streaming?
13:20:03 susanvg -> can't be there - would like remedial ustream another time
13:20:36 readerdiane -> I have not had any luck with a PC so I am going to try to use an old mac I have here at school.
13:21:02 cheryloakes webcaster -> have fun! gotta go do chores
13:21:08 Dennis-Phoenix -> Be sure you go through Derrall's and Lee Baber's tutorials, Diane. Both are on the W.A. website.
13:21:17 Dennis-Phoenix -> Cheryl: Take good care, hear?
13:21:22 JoseR -> @diane let's talk about your pc set up before you try mac
13:21:26 cheryloakes webcaster -> you got it I'll stop back
13:21:33 Dennis-Phoenix -> :D
13:22:11 susanvg -> could you put it in the chat too
13:22:19 Dennis-Phoenix -> Will do, José.
13:22:57 readerdiane -> @JoseR I did get stereo mix finally on my Dell and I have looked at everyone's tutorial and tried all the settings. No luck.
13:23:58 JoseR -> Oh yeah the Dell issue.
13:24:00 Pam Shoemaker -> Diane, I also had some trouble finding Stereo Mix in Audacity.
13:25:28 readerdiane -> Are we using the Skype chat also?
13:25:39 JoseR -> nope just here.
13:25:42 JasonR -> going back to listen only mode.
13:25:47 JL -> feel free to skype 'worldbridges' to join
13:26:43 susanvg -> Yeah Lisa
13:26:45 JasonR -> congrats
13:27:22 JasonR -> Never had much luck with Audactiy+Mac
13:27:49 derrallg -> @JasonR what do you use for editing?
13:27:54 susanvg -> How are you recording? with your Mac
13:27:57 JasonR -> garageband
13:28:09 derrallg -> that's what I want to use
13:28:29 derrallg -> do you know of a tutorial?
13:28:30 JoseR -> With Audacity 1.3.3 and mac, I record using my internal mic
13:28:34 susanvg -> I just use the Nicecast archive and then edit it in either Audacity or Garageband
13:28:48 derrallg -> internal mike works for me only
13:28:58 susanvg -> Use a headset
13:29:02 Dennis-Phoenix -> Good suggestions, Susan and Derrall and Jason.
13:29:10 JasonR -> http://www.rogueamoeba.com/fission/index.php
13:29:18 JoseR -> derall; It seems that the archive is best from Nicecast and not audacity. Audacity for post production.
13:29:20 derrallg -> thanks
13:29:22 JasonR -> Another Mac solution for audio editing
13:29:23 susanvg -> I find the internal mic picks up echo of other person
13:29:54 Dennis-Phoenix -> It often does, Susan.
13:30:09 JasonR -> I have a Blue Snowball USB mic
13:30:20 JasonR -> Internal mic not the best solution
13:30:23 Dennis-Phoenix -> I've had good success with a headset mic.
13:30:32 JoseR -> @susanvg internal mic and earbuds works well
13:30:48 susanvg -> Just used to headset now
13:30:49 Dennis-Phoenix -> But for webcasting, a desktop USB is better, I understand.
13:31:04 susanvg -> I find the internal mic picks up fan noise
13:31:16 susanvg -> I have a logitech with mac
13:31:21 Dennis-Phoenix -> The AK5370?
13:31:25 JoseR -> yes
13:31:27 susanvg -> I'm in Tiger
13:31:44 Dennis-Phoenix -> I'm glad to hear that, Jeff.
13:31:50 JasonR -> Sorry, hung up. Vacuum + webcast not so good. Standy.
13:32:01 Dennis-Phoenix -> Yes, and that can be a challenge, Jeff.
13:32:10 [Action] JasonR -> in Leopard
13:32:33 susanvg -> I don't have split inputs, but it works well with my mac
13:32:41 readerdiane -> I tried a headset with split inputs but didn't have a USB plug-in.My logi-tech sounds mush better
13:33:11 Dennis-Phoenix -> With Lee this morning, we set up a streamed webcast with the AK5370 as input and the headset as output. It seemed to work OK.
13:33:44 Dennis-Phoenix -> It was a little bit hard to listen, though, because the timbre was kind of hollow. There was no echo, though.
13:34:31 susanvg -> You do get a bit of an echo on the headset - which is a bit disconcerting but you get used to it. It doesn't record the echo
13:34:49 susanvg -> I've used Audacity - but I do like Garageband better
13:36:40 JoseR -> As a windows user there isn't a cool program caparable to Garage Band that comes with operating system :-(
13:36:47 Dennis-Phoenix -> Susan: I've been using Audacity for quite some time, but mostly for recording and editing short audio clips to be used in classroom / professional development settings. REAL editing in Audacity is something new for me.
13:37:07 susanvg -> I did my introduction with Audacity
13:37:23 JoseR -> Sooo Audacity is a cool Open Source Solution. But as a mac user, hey go with what you have.
13:37:50 Dennis-Phoenix -> I'm very persistent, so I don't actually mind going through lots and lots of intermediate steps to get where I finally want to be, but it's very time-consuming.
13:38:36 readerdiane -> For podcasting you can't beat Garage Band and I am not a good Mac user.
13:38:46 susanvg -> Love Garageband!
13:39:12 Dennis-Phoenix -> Yes, Garageband rocks—but it's not really intuitive. There's still a learning curve.
13:40:15 readerdiane -> I can't believe how quick my 7th graders picked it up. We had used quite a bit of technology prior to that but I did not have to do much extra teaching.
13:40:23 derrallg -> I love Garageband too!
13:40:42 Pam Shoemaker -> I didn't notice an echo.
13:41:13 JoseR -> there is a 100th of a second latency
13:42:07 readerdiane -> @Jeff do you want to try Yugma after the class is over? I am at school so I have a lot more bandwidth.
13:42:30 JL -> will get it going now
13:43:29 Dennis-Phoenix -> Oy! Yugma Skype sounds like a real Black Widow!
13:43:36 Dennis-Phoenix -> Potentially, anyway.
13:43:59 JoseR -> oh no the Blue Screen of Death!
13:44:06 JL -> http://www.yugma.com/app/loading.php?user=&role=0&collsession=130832090
13:44:10 Dennis-Phoenix -> ¡Ay!
13:44:21 JL -> http://www.yugma.com/Viewer/viewersignup.php?SessionID=130832090
13:44:35 Dennis-Phoenix -> Great links, José.
13:46:16 Dennis-Phoenix -> I need to be AFL for about five minutes. I'm not signing off, though. I'll be back soon.
13:47:23 JoseR -> Hello I lost call
13:47:53 JoseR -> Hey welcome to the party!
13:48:34 JoseR -> Let's regroup, so what happened?
13:49:42 JL -> http://www.yugma.com/app/loading.php?user=&role=0&collsession=130832090
13:49:46 JL -> http://www.yugma.com/Viewer/viewersignup.php?SessionID=130832090
13:52:38 susanvg -> that would be great
13:52:57 Pam Shoemaker -> Please tell us the date/time again.
13:53:16 susanvg -> ai could try to be available
13:53:37 Dennis-Phoenix -> That sounds like a great idea.
13:53:57 Dennis-Phoenix -> No. 14–16.
13:54:09 susanvg -> How about opening up sites so students can actually learn
13:54:47 JasonR -> Did you have link to that preso Jeff?
13:54:52 JasonR -> The conference site.
13:54:55 Dennis-Phoenix -> Susan: Teresa Almeida d'Eça in Portugal has done some interesting things with middle school children.
13:55:18 susanvg -> do yo have a link?
13:55:22 Dennis-Phoenix -> Yes, I'd like the link again, too.
13:55:32 Dennis-Phoenix -> Susan: For Teresa?
13:55:39 susanvg -> yes - for teresa
13:55:47 Dennis-Phoenix -> Yes. Just a minute.
13:55:48 readerdiane -> since I work with middle school I'd like to see that also
13:56:16 JoseR -> Diane can you show us your audio settings
13:56:46 Dennis-Phoenix -> Susan: Start here:
13:56:54 Dennis-Phoenix -> http://www.yugma.com/app/loading.php?user=&role=0&collsession=130832090 [Dennis-Phoenix] ¡Ay! [JL] http://www.yugma.com/Viewer/viewersignup.php?SessionID=130832090
13:57:17 Dennis-Phoenix -> Oops!
13:57:35 JoseR -> ok diane I was able to see the first part, oh well :-(
13:57:49 Dennis-Phoenix -> http://fwe2.motime.com/
13:58:18 JoseR -> I did notice your are using your usb headset for both playback and recording, is this right?
13:58:56 Dennis-Phoenix -> I can give you other links for Teresa later. Send e-mail: dennis dot oliver at cox net. (Put this in the appropriate format, with . and @ .)
13:59:06 JoseR -> the idea in streaming is to separate these two and stream sound from your soundcard
13:59:31 susanvg -> Can you put the link for Teresa on the webcast skype chat?
13:59:33 Dennis-Phoenix -> Susan: The fwe2 link is correct.
13:59:36 JoseR -> The audio repeater bridges the sound from your mic side to the soundcard.
14:00:04 susanvg -> Thanks Dennis
14:00:23 Dennis-Phoenix -> Done!
14:00:35 Dennis-Phoenix -> And it's my pleasure. :D
14:00:43 JoseR -> We usually check if it is working through audacity. But if audacity isn't working it doesn't mean you are not able to stream.
14:01:08 JoseR -> Thanks Dennis. Looking forward to your stream recording
14:01:13 JL -> http://www.yugma.com/app/loading.php?user=&role=0&collsession=130832090
14:01:46 Dennis-Phoenix -> What stream recording, José?
14:02:03 JoseR -> Your recording coming soon :-)
14:02:14 JoseR -> recording + streaming
14:02:29 Dennis-Phoenix -> ¡Claro! Entiendo perfectamente.
14:02:55 Dennis-Phoenix -> When and where will that be, José?
14:03:50 JoseR -> Anytime you are ready.
14:04:04 JoseR -> I'll be available, Look for me in skypechat
14:04:14 Dennis-Phoenix -> What I finally did for my messy desktop (not in Leopard) was to make a desktop megafolder. It's a very low-tech solution, but it works for me.
14:04:29 Dennis-Phoenix -> OK. Thanks, José.
14:05:00 Dennis-Phoenix -> Hi, Drew.
14:05:23 susanvg -> Have to go - thanks all.
14:05:41 Dennis-Phoenix -> Susan: Take care! Do visit Teresa's site, OK?
14:07:24 Dennis-Phoenix -> Drew: Are you listening to the audio?
14:07:37 JoseR -> Ok Jason the Pather King.
14:07:42 JoseR -> Panther
14:09:22 Dennis-Phoenix -> Hey, MM.
14:09:32 readerdiane -> So-o-o Dennis can I record you on a telephony call after our class is over?
14:09:49 Dennis-Phoenix -> Yes, if you'll give me a few minutes to take a break.
14:09:55 Dennis-Phoenix -> I'd be honored.
14:10:14 readerdiane -> How about 10 minutes after the Skype call is ended?
14:10:23 Dennis-Phoenix -> That'll be good.
14:10:36 derrallg -> I have to go, bye everyone
14:10:46 Dennis-Phoenix -> Derrall, take care, hear?
14:10:47 Pam Shoemaker -> Bye Derrall
14:11:41 Dennis-Phoenix -> Jeff: What an interesting statement!
14:12:00 Dennis-Phoenix -> But it's better to know how something works and what works than just theory, I think.
14:13:07 Pam Shoemaker -> I need to run. Goodbye all.
14:13:18 Dennis-Phoenix -> Bye, my hero!
14:15:02 JasonR -> Thanks
14:16:01 Dennis-Phoenix -> Diane: I'll be back in Skype in 10 minutes. OK?
14:16:06 readerdiane -> Ok Dennis in about 10 minutes I will try to record you on Skype. See you then
14:16:24 Dennis-Phoenix -> Great!
14:16:28 Dennis-Phoenix -> Bye, all!
