Here are the settings I use when streaming. These settings have come as a result of hours of consultation with various webcast academy people - both interns and teachers. I can't thank you all enough. (See my earlier blogs for names.)
I have listed each in the order I begin:
- Skype
- Microphone - mic
- Speakers - sound card
- Audacity
- playback - sound card
- recording - sound card
- channels - 1 (mono)
- gray box - stereo mix
- (Note: sometimes when opening Skype, the gray box is not available for use. I then close Audacity and reopen. It's usually there. Remember, it's free.)
- Audio Repeater
- Wave In - Mic
- Wave Out - Sound Card
- Sample Rate - 44100
- Total Buffer - 100
- Bits - 22
- Buffer - 16
- Channel - Stereo
- Priority - High
- Someday I will learn what all this means. Right now, I just follow directions.
- Volume (This is the little speaker on the taskbar at the bottom of your screen.)
- Under Options
- Playback - Sound card
- Recording - Mic
- Be sure to check the stereo mix box!
- Under Options
- Simplecast
- Encoders
- + Plug In MP3 & MP3 Pro
- Choose format - 64 KB/44,100
- Server IP - copy from WebcastAcademy.net/info for your sandbox choice
- Server Port - copy from same as above
- Password - get from Jeff through Skype
- Username - get from Jeff through Skype
- Station Name - insert choice
- Config
- Capture sound from sound card
- Encoders
That's it. Very crazy. Next I'll talk about adding video for those daring enough.
Please note: This works for me and my pc. I give no guarantees about it working for you. But good luck. It really can be done!
