Extracting Audio from Ustream on a Mac.

1. Open Soundflower and change the 2 channel setting to 'Built-in Output'

2. Open System Preferences for Sound

a. Change Input and Output to 'Soundflower 2 ch'

3. Open Audacity.

a. Open Preferences.

b. Click on the Audio I/O tab. Change Recording device to 'Soundflower (2ch).

A small group of 4.1 (and other classes) met to discuss streaming on Ustream. We had many issues with Skype tonight. We were all using different versions of Skype and think that may be part of the difficulty. Unfortunately, my old computer can't upgrade to a newer version.

Mac and Ustream - Updated "How To"

Peggy and I have started to review the Mac pages in the Webcasting Book. I created a screencast about how I set up for streaming in Ustream. Just realized now, I didn't show starting a skype call before streaming. I'm sure there's more that could be changed/added/deleted. Please leave your comments here for us to create a better screencast.


 

Same Antarctica; Different Robin

Well, on short notice, I was able to pull off another webcast on Ustream. I wanted to interview Dr. Robin Bell, a scientist about to head off to the interior of Antarctica. We weren't sure if we could connect, but confirmed everything at noon and had the webcast at 3 pm.

This was my first attempt at streaming video. I followed the advice from Alec Couros and had no problems. I experimented off of my ustream account with success. When I switched over to the webcastacademy ustream, I realized I couldn't log in. After a bit of panic and a rescue from JL, I found I had the wrong username. Simple to fix, but it got my adrenaline running!

First interncast on Antarctica

Just posted my first interncast. I had recorded it before our Feb. vacation. I had trouble getting into Sandbox A beforehand and wondered what I was doing wrong. Lee came to the rescue. Figured I was doing everything right, so switched to B and it worked fine. Thanks for the support Lee!

Interview with Pearl Harbor survivor.

Thanks to Matt Montagne, I was able to join in on the live interview with the Pearl Harbor survivor on the USS Oklahoma. This was a "jump right in" opportunity for me and Matt made it very easy for us. Our 8th graders are learning about WWII and the USO, so it was opened up to the students. I also had some interested 7th graders participating. Several adults and both administrators were there.

I've done a lot of listening this week. Stayed up much later than I should have to listen to some webcasts. I've gotten something out of all of them but I find it hard to digest it all. I really appreciated the time with Lee and Derrall with the Mac interface on Monday, Jan 21st. They gave us a basic run down of the software, explaining the purposes and settings. It was very helpful. Thanks so much!
