Wednesday Nov. 8 - SMall Group Meet Up?

Hi All,

I'm using a very unreliable connection tonight - I'm around to meet but I won't be able to take on any facilitating roles for Skype Conferences, WebHuddles or Vyews.

Perhaps there's someone who wants to share their progress?

My fingers are bleeding but the Skype Lady is captured!!

Wow, does it have to be so hard?????

I think it's the many menus you have to open, the strange software you pluck about in and the constant anxiety of just not knowing for sure that you're doing all the steps right!

I found the rally's from the group very helpful in spurring me on - Kathy's blog posts, Paradox's CMap guide, and Jeff's Screencast... But boy, did I put on mileage around the net, as well!  Most of the information was old though and they used more confusing set ups then what is suggested in our book of Webcasting.

I'm feeling now that I may not have needed to purchase VAC - the trial version may have suited me for this round...But DEFINITELY, the tipping point for me was purchasing the USB microphone.  Most of my trials and tribulations occured before I had the USB Microphone, I thought I had heard or read somewhere that we didn't need to buy one..... I decided that I'd go forth and PURCHASE... towards the end of the day and PRESTO!!! not long after that, I got everything to work - Perhaps I was just a better tinker-er by than!

Thinking about Web Huddle, Small Group Meetings, and the Academy - call for Nov.8th

It's time I posted about our Small Group Meeting on Wednesday, Nov. 1st, 20:30 EST.

I got a little nervous when 8:20pm rolled around and noone had poked their head in the webhuddle area but then soon after, names started appearing....whew, first hurdle over. I was thankful that Kathy took the reigns quickly and although she had never done a Skype conference before, she threw caution to the wind and set one up. Jeff also bridged from one skype conference (I believe) to Kathy's which I thought was very impressive but soon we all just stayed in Kathy's conference.

I learned alot about Skype Conferencing by listening to Kathy and Jeff set things up. I also discovered that my audio was causing grief to others so I had to be 'muted'....then eventually, when I tried to fix my audio, I completed turned myself off...well, audio-wise that is! We trouble-shooted using WebHuddle for a bit, where I showed my settings and others provided advice... and then Jeff suggested that I shut down Skype and come back...this did the trick, I was vocal again!

This is my official entry as a 1.3 intern... hi everyone, sorry I missed the Sunday meeting - I'm planning to be online this Sunday with you.

I'm very happy with the global aspect of our class and look forward to learning much from everyone!
